Good morning everyone,
I have been horrible at keeping this blog up to date this spring. Life is busy when planning a wedding. A lot has been going on with us so I thought I would give you all a quick recap…
First off, I am now officially Mrs. Bethany Malone! Chris and I were married by the Justice of the Peace on May 10, 2011 in preparation for our ceremony in Mexico in a little over a week. Through the planning process with Mexico, we discovered that the paperwork process to get a marriage transferred back to the US can take quite a long time and we didn’t want to be sitting here 6-9 months from now still wondering when it would become official in the US. So, we made the decision to get married in the court here before we left and just have a symbolic ceremony with a Christian minister when we get down there with our family and friends. I can’t go through the name change process till after we get back though as our tickets are in my maiden name. We are quite excited about leaving for our trip and are glad some of our family is going to be there to celebrate with us. I will be on hiatus from this blog for a while but will post pictures and recap our trip when we get back.
As a follow up to my Lenten goals, we successfully completed the painting of our main level of the house before Easter. The weekend before Easter, we painted the front living room and the ½ bath. We have been busy this month with wedding stuff so we have not started upstairs as of yet, but hope to get at least our room painted yet before it gets too hot for the summer. Painting is a great winter project in my opinion.
I successfully improved my MPG average on my car from 37 mpg to 42 mpg during the Lenten season by lightening up on the gas pedal. My driving skills are still terrible, but I will continue to work on it one day at a time. Now that I have the accelerating under better control, I need to focus on not slamming on the breaks. Small steps are being made in this process…
I was able to make it back to ND over Easter weekend with some of my airline miles I had racked up from my previous job. It was good to be back to see my family but wish we would have spent the money to have Chris come up too. The highlight of my weekend was being able to spend time with my niece. She came right to me and had a ball playing even though she hadn’t seen me in almost a year. Skype is a beautiful thing when we live so far apart. My nephew was born 2 days after I returned back home on what would have been Grandma V’s 93rd birthday. B & D named him Charles “Charlie” Michael. Mom and baby are doing great. I am sad I missed him by two days but look forward to getting to meet him hopefully sometime this summer.
Well, that is all I have for now. I am quite looking forward to sitting on the beach with a drink in my hand and relaxing for a while with my new husband. We are hoping to get out and do a few excursions when we are down there so I will fill you in when we return. Thank you for all the well wishes we have received thus far. I am a very happy girl being married to my best friend J
Adios!
