Week 16 – Vacation & no weigh in

Good afternoon!

I hope everyone is doing well! My week has been crazy busy and is about to get even crazier as we are jumping on a plane tonight to go to MN and move my belongings out of my condo. Of course that means squeezing in a little wedding planning by looking at reception halls and then driving a UHaul back here on Sunday for a fun filled weekend. Thanks in advance to those that volunteered to help me move – I couldn’t do it without your help!

I did not make it to WW this past weekend because we took a trip to the NE to see Chris’ dad and meet his grandparents. We did everything from watch the waves crash into the Jersey Shore because of Hurricane Earl to watching a game at the new Yankee Stadium to lounging up in the Poconos at his grandparents house. It was fun getting to meet Chris’ dad’s side of the family. We had a very relaxing weekend that was much needed. On another happy note, his grandparents celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Monday. I hope that Chris and I get to celebrate our 58th anniversary someday. It was fun hearing stories about how they met and how their wedding day was.

Yesterday was pretty rough for me as it was one year ago yesterday that Grandma VerDouw passed away. She was one of my most favorite people on this earth and it was hard to see her pass. I only hope to live to be 91 someday and be in as good of shape as she was until the day she left us. One thing I will miss is that she never got an opportunity to meet Chris before she passed. I told my dad that this was bothering me yesterday and he said, “Grandma has a lot of influence with the big guy upstairs, and if she did not like Chris, I would have found out by now.” He brings up a very good point with that one! I want to close this post today in her memory with a poem my aunt Pam sent out yesterday. I thought it was very fitting for Grandma Ann. I miss her very much, but I know she is with me every day and will be there on my wedding day to watch over me as well.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
